Classroom Procedures and Expectations
Entering the Classroom
- Come into the classroom in an orderly fashion, with a good attitude, and ready to learn.
- Turn in all paper homework at the marked bin by the door.
- Sharpen all pencils and throw away all trash before class begins.
- Sit in your assigned seat quickly and quietly.
- Most days will have an Activator Activity, which should take no more than five minutes at the beginning of class. When you walk into class, start working on that day's Activator.
During Class
- Raise your hand to ask a question or contribute to a discussion.
- Do not get up to sharpen pencils or throw something out without asking. Standing and walking around class is very disruptive.
- Show the utmost respect for yourself and others. We will discuss many topics and viewpoints, and if these discussions are respectful, everyone will benefit.
- Keep your head up in class. You are only in my class one hour a day, five days a week, so we need to maximize the time we have.
Dismissal
- The teacher ends and dismisses class, not the clock.
- Clean your area and leave nothing behind in your desk.
- Throw away any trash on your way out of the room.
Tardies/Absences/Make-up Work
- If you are late to class, respectfully knock on the door and hand the teacher your note.
- If you miss a day of class, check the Homework section here or Google Classroom for that day's assignment. If you have questions or need clarification, either email me or we can discuss it after class, never during class.
- You have two days after you return to still receive full credit for the assignment.
- For extended absences, personal arrangements will be made.
Turning In Work
- All paper homework is to be turned in to the designated bin at the beginning of class.
- Your name needs to be in the upper left hand corner of ALL WORK
Class Discussions
- Discussions are a great way for everyone to present their own view points, but they need to be done in a respectful way. Give anyone speaking the same respect you would want for yourself.
- Allow everyone to talk uninterrupted.
- The teacher is the discussion leader unless otherwise noted.
Classroom Interruptions
- The door is only to be answered by Mr. Baker or the substitute teacher.
- Students should remain working quietly with any visitors in the class.
- Please refrain from talking with other students who may come in to the class.
